ಸಪ್ತಚತ್ವಾರಿಂಶ ಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ
( ಸಪ್ತಮರುತಸ್ಯ ಕಥಃ - ವಿಶಾಲ ನಗರಸ್ಯ ಕಥಃ)

ಸಪ್ತಧಾ ತು ಕೃತೇ ಗರ್ಭೇ ದಿತಿಃ ಪರಮದುಃಖಿತಾ |
ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಂ ದುರಾಧರ್ಷಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಸಾನುನಯಾs ಬ್ರವೀತ್ ||

ಸ|| ಗರ್ಭೇ ಕೃತೇ ತು ಸಪ್ತಧಾ ದಿತಿಃ ಪರಮ ದುಃಖಿತಾ (ಭವತಿ) | ಸ ಅನುನಯಾತ್ ದುರಾಧರ್ಷಂ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ |

With foetus being made into seven pieces Diti was full of sorrow. Yet she spoke in an appealing manner to Indra who cannot be defeated.

ಮಮಾಪರಾಧಾತ್ಗರ್ಭೋಯಂ ಸಪ್ತಧಾ ವಿಫಲೀಕೃತಃ |
ನಾಪರಾಧೋ ಸ್ತಿ ದೇವೇಶ ತವಾತ್ರ ಬಲಸೂದನ ||

ಸ|| ಅಯಂ ಗರ್ಭಃ ಮಮ ಅಪರಾಧಾತ್ ವಿಫಲೀ ಕೃತಃ | ಬಲಸೂದನಾ ದೇವೇಶ ಅತ್ರ ತವ ನ ಅಪರಾಧೋ ಅಸ್ತಿ |

" This pregnancy has failed because of my flatu Conqueror of Bala ! Oh Best of Gods ! There is no fault of yours in this."

ಪ್ರಿಯಂ ಕರ್ತು ಮಿಚ್ಛಾಮಿ ಮಮಗರ್ಭ ವಿಪರ್ಯಯೇ |
ಮರುತಾಂ ಸಪ್ತ ಸಪ್ತಾನಾಂ ಸ್ಥಾನಪಾಲಾ ಭವಂತ್ವಿಮೇ ||

ಸ|| ಮಮ ಗರ್ಭ ವಿಪರ್ಯಯೇ ಪ್ರಿಯಂ ಕರ್ತು ಮಿಚ್ಛಾಮಿ | ಇಮೇ ಮರುತಾಂ ಸಪ್ತ ಸಪ್ತಾನಾಂ ಸ್ಥಾನಪಾಲಾ ಭವಂತಿ |

"Although my foetus has been cut into seven pieces I would like to do my best. These seven will be the leaders of seven regions'.

ವಾತಸ್ಕಂಧಾ ಇಮೇ ಸಪ್ತ ಚರಂತು ದಿವಿ ಪುತ್ರಕ |
ಮಾರುತಾ ಇತಿ ವಿಖ್ಯಾತಾ ದಿವ್ಯರೂಪಾ ಮಮಾತ್ಮಜಃ ||

ಸ|| ದಿವ್ಯರೂಪಾ ಮಮಾತ್ಮಜಃ ಇಮೇ ಸಪ್ತ ವಾತಸ್ಕಂಧಾ ಚರಂತು ದಿವಿ ಪುತ್ರಕ ಮಾರುತಾ ಇತಿ ವಿಖ್ಯಾತಾ|

My children in celestial forms will be leaders of seven Vayus and will be known in the celestial world as " Maruts"

ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಲೋಕಂ ಚರತ್ವೇಕ ಇಂದ್ರ ಲೋಕಂ ತಥಾಪರಃ |
ದಿವಿ ವಾಯುರಿತಿ ಖ್ಯಾತಃ ತೃತೀಯೋs ಪಿ ಮಹಾಯಶಾಃ ||

ಸ|| ಏಕಃ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ಲೋಕಃ ಚರತಿ ತಥಾ ಅಪರಃ ಇಂದ್ರಲೋಕಂ | ತೃತೀಯಃ ಅಪಿ ಮಹಾಯಶಾಃ ವಾಯುರಿತಿ ದಿವಿ ಖ್ಯಾತಃ |

"One will be moving in the Brahma Loka , the other in Indra Loka. The third will be very well known and attain fame with the name 'Vayu'."

ಚತ್ವಾರಸ್ತು ಸುರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ದಿಶೋ ವೈ ತವ ಶಾಸನಾತ್ |
ಸಂಚರಿಷ್ಯಂತಿ ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ ದೇವಭೂತಾ ಮಮಾತ್ಮಜಃ |
ತ್ವತ್ಕೃತೇ ನೈವ ನಾಮ್ನಾ ಚ ಮಾರುತಾ ಇತಿ ವಿಶ್ರುತಾಃ ||

ಸ|| ಸುರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಚತ್ವಾರಃ ತವ ಶಾಸನಾತ್ ದಿಶೋ ವೈ ಸಂಚರಿಷ್ಯಂತಿ | ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ | ದೇವಭೂತಾ ಮಮಾತ್ಮಜಃ ತ್ವತ್ಕೃತೇನ ಏವ ನಾಮ್ನಾ ಮಾರುತಾ ಇತಿ ವಿಶ್ರುತಾಃ|

"Oh Indra ! The remaining four will follow your direction and they will move in the four directions. Oh Devabhuta ! They attain the name "Maruta" based on the your acts".

ತಸ್ಯಾಸ್ತದ್ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಃ ಪುರಂದರಃ |
ಉವಾಚ ಪ್ರಾಂಜಲಿರ್ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ದಿತಿಂ ಬಲನಿಷೂದನ ||
ಸರ್ವಮೇತದ್ಯಥೋಕ್ತಂ ತೇ ಭವಿಷ್ಯತಿ ನ ಸಂಶಯಃ |
ವಿಚರಿಷ್ಯಂತಿ ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ ದೇವರೂಪಾಸ್ತವಾತ್ಮಜಃ ||

ಸ|| ಬಲನಿಷೂದನ ಪುರಂದರಃ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಕ್ಷಃ ತಸ್ಯಾಃ ತದ್ ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಪ್ರಾಂಜಲಿಃ ದಿತಿಂವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಉವಾಚ|ಏತತ್ತ್ ಸರ್ವಂ ಯಥೋಕ್ತಂ ತೇ ಭವಿಷ್ಯತಿ ನ ಸಂಶಯಃ ! ತವಾತ್ಮಜಃ ದೇವರೂಪಾ ವಿಚರಿಷ್ಯಂತಿ | ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ|

Indra ,the destroyer of Bala and also called Purandara, having heard the words of Diti, bowing to her solemnly spoke as follows."It shall happen as you stated. Your sons will move about in celestial forms. May all auspicious things happen to you."

ಏವಂ ತೌ ನಿಶ್ಚಯಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಮಾತಾಪುತ್ತ್ರೌ ತಪೋವನೇ|
ಜಗ್ಮತುಸ್ತ್ರಿದಿವಂ ರಾಮ ಕೃತಾರ್ಥಾವಿತಿ ನಶ್ಶ್ರುತಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ರಾಮ ! ತೌ ಮಾತಾಪುತ್ರೌ ತಪೋವನೇ ಏವಂ ನಿಶ್ಚಯಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಕೃತಾರ್ಥಾಃ ತ್ರಿದಿವಂ ಜಗ್ಮತುಃ ಇತಿ ನಃ ಶ್ರುತಂ|

' Oh Rama ! It is understood that the mother and the son having thus decided in that grove of penance and having achieved their objective went back to the heaven'.

ಏಷ ದೇಶಃ ಕಾಕುತ್ ಸ್ಥ ಮಹೇಂದ್ರಾಧ್ಯುಷಿತಃ ಪುರಾ |
ದಿತಿಮ್ ಯತ್ರ ತಪಸ್ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂ ಏವಮ್ ಪರಿಚಚಾರ ಸಃ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ಕಾಕುತ್ ಸ್ಥ ! ಏಷ ದೇಶಃ ಯತ್ರ ಪುರಾ ತಪಸ್ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂ ದಿತಿಂ ಸಃ ಮಹೇಂದ್ರಃ ಅಧ್ಯುಷಿತಃ ಏವಂ ಪರಿಚಚಾರ |

'O Kakutstha! This is the place where Indra served Diti who undertook her penance'.

ಇಕ್ಷ್ವಾಕೋಸ್ತು ನರವ್ಯಾಘ್ರ ಪುತ್ರಃ ಪರಮಧಾರ್ಮಿಕಃ|
ಅಲಂಬುಸಾಯಾಮ್ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನೋ ವಿಶಾಲ ಇತಿಶ್ರುತಃ ||
ತೇನ ಚಾಸೀದಿಹ ಸ್ಥಾನೇ ವಿಶಾಲೇತಿ ಪುರೀ ಕೃತಾ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ನರವ್ಯಾಘ್ರ ! ಇಕ್ಷ್ವಾಕೋ ಪರಮಧಾರ್ಮಿಕಃ ಅಸ್ತು. (ಸಃ) ಅಲಂಬುಸಾಯಾಮ್ ವಿಶಾಲ ಇತಿ ಪುತ್ರಃ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನೋ ಇತಿ ವಿಶ್ರುತಃ | ತೇನ ಚಾಸೀತ್ ವಿಶಾಲ ಇತಿ ಇಹ ಸ್ಥಾನೇ ಪುರೀ ಕೃತಾ |

'Oh Tiger among men !There was king by name Ikshvaku who is very righteous. He had a son by name Visala through Alambusa. In his name only the city of Visala was made here'.

ವಿಶಾಲಸ್ಯು ಸುತೋ ರಾಮ ಹೇಮಚಂದ್ರೋ ಮಹಾಬಲಃ|
ಸುಚಂದ್ರ ಇತಿ ವಿಖ್ಯಾತೋ ಹೇಮಚಂದ್ರಾದನಂತರಃ ||
ಸುಚಂದ್ರ ತನಯೋ ರಾಮ ಧೂಮ್ರಾಶ್ವ ಇತಿ ವಿಶ್ರುತಃ |
ಧೂಮ್ರಾಶ್ವ ತನಯಶ್ಚಾಪಿ ಸೃಂಜಯ ಸ್ಸಮಪದ್ಯತ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ರಾಮ ! ಹೇಮಚಂದ್ರಃ ಮಹಾಬಲಃ ವಿಶಾಲಸ್ಯ ಸುತಃ | ಹೇಮಚಂದ್ರಾತ್ ಅನಂತರಃ ಸುಚಂದ್ರ ಇತಿ ವಿಖ್ಯಾತಃ | ಹೇ ರಾಮ ! ಸುಚಂದ್ರಃ ತನಯಃ ಧೂಮ್ರಾಶ್ವ ಇತಿ ವಿಶ್ರುತಃ | ಧುಮ್ರಾಶ್ವಸ್ಯ ತನಯಃ ಸೃಂಜಯಃ ಅಪಿ ಸಮಪದ್ಯತ |

'Oh Rama ! Hemachandra was the son of Visala. After Hemachandra Suchandra has attained fame. Oh Rama ! Dhumraasva is heard to be the son of Suchandra. Dhumraasva's son is Srunjaya'.

ಸೃಂಜಯಸ್ಯ ಸುತ ಶ್ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ ಸಹದೇವಃ ಪ್ರತಾಪವಾನ್ |
ಕುಶಾಶ್ವಃ ಸಹದೇವಸ್ಯ ಪುತ್ತ್ರಃ ಪರಮಧಾರ್ಮಿಕಃ ||
ಕುಶಾಶ್ವಸ್ಯ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ಸೋಮದತ್ತಃ ಪ್ರತಾಪವಾನ್|
ಸೋಮದತ್ತಸ್ಯ ಪುತ್ತ್ರಸ್ತು ಕಾಕುತ್ ಸ್ಥ ಇತಿ ವಿಶ್ರುತಃ ||

ಸ|| ಸೃಂಜಯಸ್ಯ ಸುತಃ ಪ್ರತಾಪವಾನ್ ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ ಸಹದೇವಃ | ಸಹದೇವಸ್ಯ ಪುತ್ರಃ ಪರಮಧಾರ್ಮಿಕಃ ಕುಶಾಶ್ವಃ |ಕೂಶಾಶ್ವಸ್ಯ ( ಪುತ್ರಃ) ಸೋಮದತ್ತಃ ಪ್ರತಾಪವಾನ್ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ | ಸೋಮದತ್ತಸ್ಯ ಪುತ್ರಃ ತು ಕಾಕುತ್ ಸ್ಥಃ ಇತಿ ವಿಶ್ರುತಃ |

'Srunjaya's son Sahadeva has all auspicious qualities and is a great warrior. Sahadeva's son is Kusaasva who is righteous person. Kusaasva's son is Somadatta who is illustrious and powerful. Somadatta's son is heard to be Kakustha'.

ತಸ್ಯ ಪುತ್ತ್ರೋ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ಸಂಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಷ ಪುರೀಮಿಮಾಮ್ |
ಅವಸತ್ಯಮರ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯಃ ಸುಮತಿರ್ನಾಮ ದುರ್ಜಯಃ ||
ಇಕ್ಷ್ವಾಕೋಸ್ತು ಪ್ರಸಾದೇನ ಸರ್ವೇ ವೈಶಾಲಿಕಾ ನೃಪಾಃ |
ದೀರ್ಘಾಯುಷೋ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾನೋ ವೀರ್ಯವಂತ ಸುಧಾರ್ಮಿಕಃ ||

ಸ|| ತಸ್ಯ ಪುತ್ರಃ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ದುರ್ಜಯಃ ಸುಮತಿಃ ನಾಮ ಸಂಪ್ರತಿಃ ಏಷ ಇಮಾಮ್ ಪುರೀಮ್ ಅವಸತ್ಯಮರಪ್ರಖ್ಯಃ |ಇಕ್ಷ್ವಾಕಸ್ಯ ಪ್ರಸಾದೇನ ವೈಶಾಲಿಕಾ ನೃಪಾಃ ಸರ್ವೇ ದೀರ್ಘಾಯುಷಃ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾನಃ ವೀರ್ಯವಂತಃ ಸುಧಾರ್ಮಿಕಃ ।

'His is son is very powerful and cannot be defeated. His name is Sumati. Presently he is ruling this place. Because of Ikshvakus grace all the rulers of Visala were righteous, powerful and were with long life'.

ಇಹಾದ್ಯ ರಜನೀಂ ರಾಮ ಸುಖಂ ವತ್ಸ್ಯಮಹೇ ವಯಮ್ |
ಶ್ವಃ ಪ್ರಭಾತೇ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಜನಕಂ ದ್ರಷ್ಟುಮರ್ಹಸಿ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ರಾಮ ಇಹ ಅದ್ಯ ರಜನೀಂ ಸುಖಂ ವತ್ಸ್ಯಮಹೇ ವಯಂ |ಹೇ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ! ಶ್ವಃ ಪ್ರಭಾತೇ ಜನಕಂ ದ್ರಷ್ಟುಂ ಅರ್ಹಸಿ |

' O Rama! We will stay here for the night and rest. Tomorrow we will be on our way to see Janaka'.

ಸುಮತಿಸ್ತು ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಮ್ ಉಪಾಗತಮ್ |
ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ನರವರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಃ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುದ್ಗಚ್ಛನ್ಮಹಾಯಶಾಃ ||
ಪೂಜಾಂ ಚ ಪರಮಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಸೋಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯಸ್ಸಬಾಂಧವಃ |
ಪ್ರಾಂಜಲಿಃ ಕುಶಲಂ ಪೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಂ ಅಥಾಬ್ರವೀತ್ ||

ಸ|| ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ಸುಮತಿಸ್ತು ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಂ ಉಪಾಗತಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ನರವರಸ್ರೇಷ್ಠಃ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುದ್ ಗಚ್ಛನ್ ಮಹಾಯಶಾಃ |ಸಹ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯ ಸಹ ಬಾಂಧವಃ ಪರಮಂ ಪೂಜಾಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ , ಪ್ರಾಂಜಲಿಃ ಕುಶಲಂ ಪೃಷ್ಠ್ವಾ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತಂ ಅಥ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ |

Having come to know of the arrival of Viswamitra, the powerful Sumati who is the best among men and who has lot of fame came ahead to receive the sage. Having received him along with his priests and relatives , he paid obeisance to sage Viswamitra and spoke to him as follows.

ಧನ್ಯೋಸ್ಮಿ ಅನುಗ್ರಹೀತೋಸ್ಮಿ ಯಸ್ಯ ಮೇ ವಿಷಯಂ ಮುನಿಃ |
ಸಂಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೋ ದರ್ಶನಂ ಚೈವ ನಾಸ್ತಿ ಧನ್ಯತರೋ ಮಯಾ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ಮುನಿಃ ಧನ್ಯೋಶ್ಮಿ ಯಸ್ಯ ಮೇ ವಿಷಯಂ ಅನುಗ್ರಹೀತೋಶ್ಮಿ| (ತವ) ದರ್ಶನಂ ಸಂಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಃ ಚ ಏವ ಧನ್ಯತರಃ ನಾಸ್ತಿ |

"Oh Sage ! I am gratified. With your visit I have been blessed. I have your Darshan too. There can be nothing more auspicious than that !"

ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಯಣೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕೀಯೇ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ ಬಾಲಕಾಂಡೇ ಸಪ್ತಚತ್ವಾರಿಂಶ ಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ ||
ಸಮಾಪ್ತಂ ||
